On June 13th, the town of Guijuelo (Salamanca) became the epicenter of the Iberian pig sector with the celebration of the 9th edition of the Porc d’Or Ibérico Awards, organized by the Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA) based on data recorded in BDporc Ibérico. On this occasion, Aviporc had the honor of participating as a sponsor, thus reinforcing its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and excellence in the livestock sector.
Awards that recognize the effort and excellence of the Iberian pig industry
The Porc d’Or Ibérico Awards are a benchmark in the sector, as they aim to recognize the work, professionalism, effort, and essential and extraordinary contribution made by hundreds of Iberian pig farms and companies across Spain. These awards are a well-deserved tribute to those who, with dedication and commitment, contribute to the progress of a key sector in our country.
In each edition, the Porc d’Or Ibérico Awards reaffirm their mission to promote increasingly efficient, responsible, and sustainable pig production, aligned with current challenges in terms of animal welfare, animal health, and environmental protection.
Outstanding farms and awards
In this 9th edition, a total of 33 farms from Andalusia, Castilla y León, and Extremadura were recognized for their excellent work. A total of 49 awards were presented in the following categories:
- Longevity
- Farrowing rate
- Numerical productivity
In addition, three special awards highlighted essential aspects for the sector:
- Porc d’Or Ibérico with Diamond, the top award that recognizes the overall excellence of the farm.
- Porc d’Or Ibérico MAPA Award for Health, Animal Welfare, and Environment, granted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
- Award for Maximum Numerical Productivity, which distinguishes the farm with the best productive results.
